WORK > Woven Words

Woven Words is a site-specific installation that explores poetry and text from the Global South to Turtle Island. The installation features textile strands that incorporate words and fragments from contemporary Iranian poetry. Engaging with Farsi language, the installation transforms text into a tactile and immersive experience. Each strand is composed of sheer fabric, originally inscribed with Persian poetry, then cut, knotted, braided, stitched, and reconfigured into long, flowing forms. This process is like language in migration—words break apart, change shape, and take on new meanings while still holding traces of where they came from. Woven Words invites us to see language not just as something we read or speak, but something we feel and carry.
